Well, I went outside of my apartment for the first time at 8:30 tonight! My furniture finally arrived yesterday. But I am up to my ears in boxes and realizing that moving to New York is going to require some more downsizing. But in the midst of unpacking today, the TV guys came and set up my TV access. The cats are really freaked out by all the boxes. And I had to make a path to the litter box for them.

But before the moving truck finally arrived, I did make it to several knit shops here in New York. On Tuesday, after a quick jaunt to Lush, I went to School Products. They have a lot of great cashmere, but I managed to only spend $12.50 on some lace yarn. Then I went to Knit New York, a great cafe and knit shop. I was longing for a place to sit and knit, so I took advantage of the cafe, got some water and a treat and knit on my sock. (I still to take a picture and show it to you, but that will have to wait til things are all put away here.) I also bought a sack to carry the sock in. It is purple, and nylon, so it will keep it clean. I love it.

Then yesterday, in the midst of unpaking some of my boxes, Ashley called and reminded me that Suss is closing their New York store. So I went, and bought 8 skeins of their coolaid yarn in black – think it will make a great sweater – and some Lorna’s laces angel in white! And all for a great price. I bought some gifts too, but I can’t talk about those, cause the giftee won’t be surprised.

So today I unpacked and put things away all day. I do believe that my stash arrived without blemish. But I can’t say the same for everything. But I won’t bore you with the details.

So still not much knitting, although their has been some stash enhancement.  More soon.

Three cheers for boxes arriving!!! Unpacking can be horrible, but maybe if you do it in a pattern of unpacking one box then knitting five rows, unpacking another box then knitting five rows, etc., that it could be sort of like a reward or game. Yeah, um, unpacking still is horrible. Here’s wishing you that it goes easier than you think it will!

I’m so relieved that your things arrived finally. Mine won’t be here until Monday, conveniently, my first day of work. In the meantime, I’m just hanging out in Kentucky, which in no way compares to hanging out in New York. I have purchased some Koigu since I got here, though. I’m off to scope out some more grocery stores. Fun times!

You have your priorities straight! :) YARN first! Love it! I went to School Products when I was in the city this past spring and was very impressed. Lovely things. I will have to check out the other shops you mentioned on my next visit.

Good luck with the unpacking and organization, K!
